World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day - Friday 20th March
Today, we marked World Down Syndrome day in school (ahead of the official day tomorrow).
On Tuesday, the children learned about Down Syndrome during school worship, and today they learned how to sign 'Happy World Down Syndrome Day' in Makaton. We asked the children (and staff) to come to school wearing bright, colourful socks that would get noticed. We enjoyed seeing so many colourful combinations! Even our Headteacher for the day joined in!
The idea is that people will ask the children why they are wearing the socks, and they will be able to say 'I am wearing these socks to raise awareness for Down Syndrome!'
