Java Performance
A Celebration of Indonesian Culture – Wednesday 25th March
On Wednesday afternoon, the Year 1 children put on a performance for their parents and carers where they put everything together that they had been learning about with Aris Daryono over the half-term. The children played Gamelan music, and used their wonderful shadow puppets to tell their version of an Indonesian traditional tale. These puppets were created to retell the children's version of a traditional Indonesian tale. As part of the Java topic, the children have also learnt about the wildlife, geography and culture of Indonesia.
Year 1 children and a few parents spent the morning making some traditional Indonesian food, such as banana fritters and Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and we were really pleased to be able to invite parents and carers to share their learning.
We hope that the Year 1 families enjoyed their taster of Indonesian food and being entertained by the children. They were all so confident, whether narrators, musicians or puppeteers!
The Year 1 team would like to thank the parents who came in to help cook and prepare the food in the morning.
