Safety Week

Week commencing 2nd November – Safety week
As part of our Green Flag and School Travel Plan work, we held a Safety week this wheel in school .
During the week, we held various sessions for the children, raising awareness of different aspects of safety.
Dr McGurran came into school and taught the children First Aid basics, such as dialling 999, identifying an emergency and the recovery position. The children were really interested and eager to learn.
All the children in the school participated in scooter sessions with a visiting scooter coach. Each class had a lesson where the children learnt how to travel safely whilst riding a scooter, thinking especially about travelling near roads and across driveways. They worked on coordination and control, with a few fun tricks taught at the end too. The smiles on the children's faces were a joy to see, and the coach was particularly impressed with how well all the children listened and followed instructions.
We also had a session on water safety held by Mrs Couling, who is also a trained lifeguard, talking the children through what they need to remember in the event of an emergency in the water.
Thank you to our visitors who gave up their time to make the day such a successful one and to Mrs Madziwa and Mr Creese for organising and coordinating all the activities.
