Drop-off and pick-ups 

Please can all parents/carers remember that their children should be supervised when on the school site during drop off and pick up. Please could you ensure that the children remain with you and not be allowed to run around  on the school field.

Children's Commissioner Survey

Our Children's Commissioner is conducting a national survey, The Big Future and would love to hear from the parents/carers of our school.

During the final weeks of the academic year, this is a valuable opportunity for children and young people to reflect on their experiences, share what matters most to them, and tell us about their hopes and ambitions for the future in their own words.

Library Books

Next week (w/c 6th July) we will be collecting library books in so that we can conduct a stock take. Children will still have library sessions but will not bring home a library book again this term.

Open Afternoon

• Date: Wednesday 8th July, 4pm – 6pm

Open Afternoon is a chance for your family to come in to see the school building and grounds in a very relaxed, social way after the school day. The children in Years 1 & R will have spent the previous morning in the classroom they are moving to in September and this will be an opportunity for them to show this to you. You can come and see some of the work the children have done, which is displayed in classrooms and communal areas. You do not have to stay for the whole time, but we would appreciate the children being there for their year group or club performance. It is a relaxed event and families can come and go as suits them and their other commitments.

Each year group is working on a short performance, a dance or a song, which they will give during the afternoon and the Maypole and Sandygate Singers will also perform. The timings below are rough ones, but the events will take place in this order:

• v4.00pm – Looking around classrooms/Book Look
• 4.30pm– Maypole Club
• 4.45pm – Reception
• 5.00pm – Year 1
• 5.15pm – Sandyate Singers
• 5.30pm – Year 2

The weather forecast indicates hotter weather next week. Please note this event will still take place, but some events may instead take place in a different part of the school grounds to keep everyone as cool as possible.

Praise in the Park

• Date: Thursday 9^th July

Praise in the Park is where church schools in Marlow gather together to sing and retell bible stories through dance. This year we are being joined by Holy Trinity School, Little Marlow School and Saint Peter's School. The event will be held in Higginson Park on Thursday 9^th July from 1.30pm-2.30pm.

Parents, carers, grandparents are invited to join us as it's a whole community event.

We would like to give families the option to either collect your child at 3.15pm from school, or from Higginson Park, at 2.30pm after the event has finished. Please let us know which option you would prefer.

Volunteers Required for Praise in the Park

If you are available to help walk with the children from school to Higginson Park and back for Praise in the Park on Thursday 9th July, please let us know. We require 5 parents from each class. We aim to leave school at 12.45pm and return to school around 3pm.

Creative Week Exhibition - 13^th July

We are excited to announce that Creative Week begins on the 13^th July, and we will be kicking things off with a special exhibition of children's artwork. 

Parents and carers are warmly invited to visit The Barn after school from 3:00 - 4:00pm to view their child's creative masterpieces. Artwork will be available to purchase for £10 per piece, and we kindly ask that cash payments only are made.

We are also looking for a parent volunteer to help with handling artwork purchases during the exhibition from 3:00-4:00pm. If you are available to help, please let us know. 

If you are unable to purchase your child's artwork on the day, please don't worry. Artwork will be held until the end of Creative Week to allow time for any last-minute orders.

End of Year Service

• Date: Wednesday 22^nd July, 9.15am –10.15am

The End of Year Service is always a lovely, emotional time as we say goodbye to our Year 2 children and wish them well for the next step in their learning journey. They will share some memories of their time at Marlow Infants and sing some of their favourite worship songs.

Design and Technology 

In outdoor learning this week, the Year 2 children have been learning about healthy eating as part of Design and Technology and have been making different salads.

A big thank you to our 2 parent helpers who supported Dan in helping the children with the cutting of vegetables and the preparation of these lovely looking dishes.

Legacy Books

It's that time of year again when we kindly ask Year 2 families to donate a legacy book (or more than one) in memory of their child's time at our school. We will label these to show who they were donated by. They will really help with our Core Read Aloud programme and to instil a love of reading in our pupils in the future.

Act of Service

This half-term, our school value in focus is Service. Children will be learning that service is about thinking of and helping others without expecting a reward.

Both Year 2 classes will be walking to May Balfour Gardens to perform their Act of Service. Dragonfly class will be going on Wednesday 1st July and Grasshopper class will be visiting on Thursday 2nd July.

We will be leaving school around 9am, walking to May Balfour Gardens, litter picking, planting bulbs and washing the sundial for the community to benefit from. We plan to return to school before 12.00pm. If your child has a litter picker and would like to bring it in, that would be much appreciated.

**Date change**

As you will be aware following the email sent out earlier this week. The Year 2 act of service was unfortunately postponed due to the organiser at Buckinghamshire council being off poorly this week. An email will be sent out to all parents/carers once a new date has been confirmed and to request volunteers should you be available to help.

Playground Leaders

Playground Leaders is an initiative which encourages children to build confidence and develop social and leadership skills. It is a chance for children to take responsibility and help other children and adults in school at lunchtime and it is open to all Year 2 children. As our Year 1 pupils prepare to move to Year 2, we will be preparing them for this role.

There are 3 main jobs the children will help with:

• Looking after children in the quiet canopy area and Reflection areas
• Leading the games in the playground
• Leading activities in the playground

The children will be put on a rota and supported by all the midday supervisors on a daily basis, but overall they will be led by Mrs Simons, our midday supervisor coordinator.

All Year 1 children will participate in a Leadership morning on 13th July, where they will participate in team-building games, learn about job descriptions, what the role of playground leader entails and apply for the role of playground leader should they wish to.

All those children who have shown an interest in the role will then be trained in the areas mentioned above initially in September and then will, by October half-term, have at least one lunchtime per week to support in the area they have been allocated to.

• Small change challenge: Monday 22nd June onwards
• Sandygate Open Afternoon: Wednesday 8th July
• Camp night!: Saturday 18th July
• Ice Cream Fridays: Every Friday @ Pick Up until the end of term

Our Small Change Challenge started this week! Children are invited to bring in any spare change or notes to add to their classroom bucket.

The class that raises the highest total by the end of the challenge will win a non-school uniform day!

Orders close: 10th July

Year 2 parents can now order a JPEG copy of their child’s first day at school photo via ParentPay for £5.

It’s a lovely keepsake to remember your child’s time at Sandygate, you’ll be amazed at how much they’ve grown!

Please note: orders will close on ParentPay on Friday 10th July. If your child was not in school on the first day, or joined later in the year, unfortunately a photo will not be available. Thank you for your understanding.

The school's Open Afternoon will be taking place once again this year. It’s a lovely, social afternoon that the school organises where parents are invited to watch performances, have a look at their classrooms (old and new) and a chance to say hello to your children’s teachers (present and future!)

To add to the event, the PFA will be offering a tuck shop to accompany the afternoon, as well as the opportunity to order pizzas for a social picnic tea on the school field! If you would like to place an order, they are available on ParentPay until Monday evening! 

When: 18^th July from 4pm 

The ever-popular camp night is just over 2 weeks away! This annual camp out is a night of pizzas, treats and great merriment – a big social event for the whole family!

Pack your tents and your sleeping bags to join us from 4pm on the school field for a night of fun and novelty!

Available on ParentPay NOW - there are a limited number of pitches available, so make sure not to miss them and book yours!

When booking please specify how many adults and children will be in your tent, and we kindly ask you only bring your own children.

Thank you to all those who came along to sports day and enjoyed teas, coffees and pastries! It was a lovely, bustling morning, and we raised £266 towards the school! A cup of tea can go a long way!
