25th September 2026

In school this week

The Key Stage 1 children have been voting for their class leaders this week and learning a little bit about democracy. This is preparation for our 'Taste of Democracy' week which will take place after half-term.  We will let you know the outcomes of the class leaders' elections next week.

The Reception joined the rest of the school for their first whole school worship on Wednesday – it was good to have all the children together!

Talking about elections, Salli Slyfield, one of our parent governors, is coming to the end of her term. This means that we will shortly be holding an election so that we can appoint a new parent governor. If this is something you think you would be interested in, please contact the school office for more information.

On Sunday, children from Marlow Infants will be singing one of their harvest songs as part of Sandygate Sunday. We have some children signed up, but we would like to see more. Please sign up using the link below or just turn up on Sunday (@10.59 service) at All Saints church. You can join in the All Saints community day afterwards!

I'm looking forward to seeing school families at the PFA Back to School BBQ tomorrow – it sounds like the PFA have a great event planned.

📚 New Book Shed! 📚

We are delighted to introduce our new Book Shed, located by the ECO Barn. The Book Shed is a place where families can give pre-loved books a new home, completely free of charge. If you find a book you'd like to read, please help yourself!

We also welcome donations of good-quality children's books that your family no longer needs. To keep the Book Shed tidy, safe and full of exciting reads, the books will be checked regularly. Occasionally, some books may need to be removed and recycled if they become damaged or unsuitable.

We hope our Book Shed encourages a love of reading while giving books the chance to be enjoyed again and again.

Happy reading! 📖✨

One Can Trust

Harvest time is all about being thankful for what we have, and we will be talking to the children about this in school. Helping and sharing with others is a good way of showing how thankful we are, and so we will be supporting One Can Trust (High Wycombe) over the Harvest period. One Can Trust works with organisations, including Buckinghamshire Council to provide weekly food parcels to those who need their help.

We will be collecting items for One Can Trust from Monday 28th September for our Harvest offering.

There will be boxes out at drop-off and pick-up all week. Please see below their priority list of items. If every child could bring in one tin or packet, then we would have 181 items to donate to One Can Trust, which would have a big impact. We will send out another reminder closer to the time.

One Can Trust has a list of their most wanted items which you can see below.

Head Lice

Please take advantage of the weekend to check your child's hair. We have had cases of head lice in the Reception classes.

  • Checking for head lice shouldn’t be considered a big deal, it is just a normal part of a family’s personal hygiene routine, like brushing teeth or washing hair
  • It is best to check for head lice using a comb made for the purpose, ideally white so they can be easily seen and with teeth no more than 0.3mm apart, in order to trap head lice
  • Combing through the hair when wet, or after applying a conditioner, may make the process more comfortable
  • Good lighting is important and so is comfort

If you find any lice, you can treat them in a variety of ways and you can find more information here.

Individual school photographs

A reminder that if you haven't already these photos are now live to order on the website using the QR slip your child came home with, and are available for ordering until Friday 2nd October.

Harvest Festival

  • Date: Thursday 1st October

We will be holding our Harvest Festival service twice in school, one at 9.00am-9.30am and the other at 2.30pm-3.00pm. The service will be led by Year 2 worship leaders and each year group will be singing a song as part of the service.

In the past, this has always been a very popular service and, as space in our school hall is limited, we have had to hold the service twice to accommodate everyone who wished to attend.

We would like to ask all parents who would like to attend this service to book a session.

Book tickets for the 9am service
Book tickets for the 2.30pm service

Curriculum Information Sessions

During this half-term, we will be holding information sessions for parents and carers. There will be a session for each year group. The aim of the sessions is to give you an overview of the curriculum for the year, including what children will be learning in maths and English, how the subjects will be taught and what assessments will be undertaken. Ideas for how you can support your children at home will also be shared.

All sessions start at 7.00pm and the dates for remaining session is as follows:

Year 2 – Monday 28th September

You can sign up for your year group session in the relevant section below.

Sandygate Sunday

  • Date: Sunday 27th September 11.00am-12 noon

Once a term, we are invited to take part in the 10.59 service at All Saints Church. Some of our pupils will read prayers they have written, and we lead the congregation in one of the songs we sing in school.

All Sandygate families are welcome to come along to the service. We ask that children wear their red jumpers/cardigans to identify them as Marlow Infant pupils. They should sit with their family during the service and the school staff in church will invite them up at the appropriate times.

Please click here to let us know if your child can attend

All Saints Community Fun Day

  • Date: Sunday 27th September

The All Saints team will be holding a fun-filled event to which all our school families are invited. There will be lots of activities to enjoy and refreshments provided.  There is a leaflet containing full details at the bottom of the newsletter.

Staff Fundraising for Cancer Research UK

On Saturday 6 of the Marlow C of E Infants staff took part in the Shine Night Walk – Full Marathon, walking 26 miles around London in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Together they raised a total of £3,500, which is a huge amount for this amazing charity. A big thank you for all the kind donations and messages of encouragement. Everyone's support was very much appreciated and certainly helped during those last few challenging miles to keep the momentum going!

Its still not too late to donate should you wish!

This is a fabulous day for the children when they become archaeologists, candlestick makers, leather makers...the list is huge.

The Ark Farm to visit Year 1

In support of our learning in Science this term, the Year 1 children will be having a visit from The Ark Farm. This experienced company will be setting up in the barn for the children to interact with a variety of different animal types.  The 'Small Animal Encounters' are designed to be calm, gentle, and confidence-building, giving children the opportunity to meet and interact closely with a range of friendly small animals. Sessions are delivered by experienced Ark Farm staff, with children supported at their own pace to encourage curiosity, careful handling, and positive early experiences with animals.

This visit will take place on Monday 5th October within school.

  • Old terracotta plant pots (they can be broken!)
  • Small bricks
  • Natural insulating material (the type you may get in food or dog food deliveries!)
  • Any other small natural items that can be placed inside a wooden pallet (no plastic please)

No more than a shoebox sized amount per person please!
