Anti-Bullying Week
Date: w/c 16th November
This year, the theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2026 is 'Break the Silence'. Our Rights Respecting Ambassadors will be leading school worship on Wednesday 18th November to tell the rest of the school all about it. The children will be learning about friendships and who to speak to if they need help.

We will also be holding Odd Socks Day in school on Thursday 19th November (see below)

Odd Socks Day
Date: Thursday 19th November

Join us for Odd Socks Day to celebrate what makes us all unique and to raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week.
We are encouraging all children to come into school wearing bright and colourful odd socks.
Odd Socks Day is all about embracing differences and spreading kindness. It is a simple way for children to learn that being different is something to be proud of!
No donations are needed – just a lot of smiles and odd socks!
Let's make our school a rainbow of odd socks and show that everybody is special in their own way.

Active Journey Week
Date: w/c 2nd November
Each term we hold an Active Journey week, the aim of which is to raise awareness for and encourage more sustainable journeys to school.
During active journey week, we encourage parents/carers and children to walk, cycle, scoot to school. If you live further away from school, you can park your car further away from school than usual so that part of the journey can be walked (Park & Stride).
Every day, we ask the children to log how they came to school and during this week we will be trying to increase the number of active journeys. In Celebration Worship on Friday, there will be a trophy awarded to the class with the most active journeys during the week.

Flu Immunisations
The Buckinghamshire Immunisation School Nursing Team will be visiting school on Tuesday 24th November to deliver the flu immunisations to children in all year groups.
Today you will have received an email with a letter from the nursing team. Please ensure that you complete your child’s form as soon as possible, and at the latest one full school day before the vaccination date. You are required to complete a form to either consent OR decline this immunisation.

Parent Governor
We’re looking for a new parent governor to join the governing body. It’s a really interesting and rewarding role, offering a chance to shape the strategic direction of the school, support the SLT and ensure the best outcomes for the children.
No particular experience is needed, we need a broad range of people on the board and everyone is welcome! All training and support will be provided.
In terms of time commitment, there are 5–6 evening meetings per year, some school visits in the daytime and reading and training that can be done in your own time.
It’s a great way to develop new skills and give back to the community.
If you want to have a quick chat and find out more about the role then please speak to our chair, Robbie McFarlane or vice chair, Daphne Howarth on governors@marlowinfant.uk or register your interest with the school office.
If this is of interest to you, please let us know by next Friday (23rd October) as we will be holding elections after half-term.

Volunteer training
It's not too late to volunteer
- Date: Wednesday 21st October
Mums, dads, carers and grandparents are all very welcome in school as helpers. Thank you to those who have offered their help already. We have had family volunteers working on a variety of activities including listening to children read, mounting and displaying work and helping with sewing and craft activities – the possibilities are endless. The school operates a policy whereby parents need to attend a short training session before helping out in class. This training will be held in the school hall. We still have 1 session remaining; on Wednesday 21st October 9.00am.
If you are interested in becoming a regular helper, please click here to read the Confidentiality Policy and here to read the Child Protection Policy. Then click here to complete the form.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2026
We will be receiving the traditional poppy boxes the week commencing 19th October, so the school council and school staff will soon be selling the poppies and other merchandise outside school at drop-off and pick-up each morning. The suggested donation for all items is £1. We also have a small supply of metal pin badges for adults, for a donation of £5.
