'Book Looks' for Parents & Carers
We will be continuing the Book Looks that we introduced last year. The feedback from those parents and carers who came to look at their children's books at different points over the year was extremely positive.
This is an opportunity, outside parent consultations, for parents & carers to look at the learning the children have been doing over the year/half-term. These are not additional parent consultations, and you are encouraged to look at the books with your child. If you bring your child's siblings with you, it is important that they stay with you.
These opportunities will be on the following dates:

Head Lice

Please take advantage of the half-term break to check your child's hair, we have had a few cases of head lice in the Key Stage 1 classes.
- Checking for head lice shouldn’t be considered a big deal, it is just a normal part of a family’s personal hygiene routine, like brushing teeth or washing hair
- It is best to check for head lice using a comb made for the purpose, ideally white so they can be easily seen and with teeth no more than 0.3mm apart, in order to trap head lice
- Combing through the hair when wet, or after applying a conditioner, may make the process more comfortable
- Good lighting is important and so is comfort
If you find any lice, you can treat them in a variety of ways and you can find more information here.

School Bag Keyrings Reminder
We kindly ask parents and carers not to attach keyrings, toys or decorative items to children's school bags. Whilst these can be appealing, they often become a distraction during the school day and can cause unnecessary upset if they are lost or damaged.
Keeping school bags free from keyrings also helps maintain a smart and tidy appearance, reflecting our school standards. We appreciate your support in ensuring that bags are used for practical purposes only.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Anti-Bullying Week
Date: w/c 16th November
This year, the theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2026 is 'Break the Silence'. Our Rights Respecting Ambassadors will be leading school worship on Wednesday 18th November to tell the rest of the school all about it. The children will be learning about friendships and who to speak to if they need help.

We will also be holding Odd Socks Day in school on Thursday 19th November (see below)

Odd Socks Day
Date: Thursday 19th November

Join us for Odd Socks Day to celebrate what makes us all unique and to raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week.
We are encouraging all children to come into school wearing bright and colourful odd socks.
Odd Socks Day is all about embracing differences and spreading kindness. It is a simple way for children to learn that being different is something to be proud of!
No donations are needed – just a lot of smiles and odd socks!
Let's make our school a rainbow of odd socks and show that everybody is special in their own way.

Active Journey Week
Date: w/c 2nd November
Each term we hold an Active Journey week, the aim of which is to raise awareness for and encourage more sustainable journeys to school.
During active journey week, we encourage parents/carers and children to walk, cycle, scoot to school. If you live further away from school, you can park your car further away from school than usual so that part of the journey can be walked (Park & Stride).
Every day, we ask the children to log how they came to school and during this week we will be trying to increase the number of active journeys. In Celebration Worship on Friday, there will be a trophy awarded to the class with the most active journeys during the week.

Safety Week

As part of our Active Journey week (formerly known as 'Walk to School Week') which takes place during the week of 2nd November, we will be holding our annual Safety Week.
Children will be taking part in a range of activities which principally focus on safety around transport and roads. The children will all have a Scootability session on Wednesday which will teach them how to ride and use their scooters safely. There is no need to send children's scooters into school. Each child will be provided with a scooter and the necessary safety equipment for their session.
Other sessions include:

Flu Immunisations
The Buckinghamshire Immunisation School Nursing Team will be visiting school on Tuesday 24th November to deliver the flu immunisations to children in all year groups.
Today you will have received an email with a letter from the nursing team. Please ensure that you complete your child’s form as soon as possible, and at the latest one full school day before the vaccination date. You are required to complete a form to either consent OR decline this immunisation.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2026
The school council and school staff will be selling the poppies and other merchandise outside school at drop-off and pick-up each morning commencing Monday 2nd November. The suggested donation for all items is £1. We also have a small supply of metal pin badges for adults, for a donation of £5.
